San Francisco VA Health Care System Completes 31,118 Video Visits in 2020 - The San Francisco VA Health Care System (SFVAHCS) completed more than 31,118 video telehealth appointments with Veterans in their homes. This represents an increase in video telehealth appointments of more than 2,700 percent since Jan. 1, 2020. (09/14/2020)

VA Video Connect Visits at San Francisco VA Health Care System Surpasses 20,000 in 2020 - The San Francisco VA Health Care System (SFVAHCS) has conducted over 18,700 telehealth appointments between February 2020 and June 2020, and over 20,000 since January 2020. (07/31/2020)

San Francisco VA Health Care System to expand in-person services to Veteran patients - The San Francisco VA Health Care System’s (SFVAHCS) medical center and six community-based outpatient clinics are expanding in-person health care services as California continues to reopen after COVID-19 shutdowns. Starting this week, the San Francisco VA Medical Center and clinics will resume select services, such as certain elective procedures and specialty care appointments. (06/18/2020)

One hundred years later, doctors and health care professionals at the San Francisco VA Health Care System (SFVAHCS) are using the internet to return to this time-honored tradition of house calls through the use of the VA’s suite of mobile apps, its online patient portal and telehealth. San Francisco VA Researcher to receive prestigious Barnwell Award - Dr. Michael Shlipak will receive the Department of Veterans Affairs’ Barnwell Award at an award ceremony at 12 p.m. on Friday, July 26 in the first floor Auditorium at the San Francisco VA Medical Center. (07/26/2019)

SFVAHCS Researcher Receives Prestigious Barnwell Award - Dr. Michael Shlipak recently received the prestigious Department of Veterans Affairs’ Barnwell Award for his pioneering work investigating the causes and consequences of kidney disease and for his impactful efforts to improve strategies for the early detection and prevention of the disease.
