Proposed Sausalito Research Center

The United States Department of Veterans Affairs has initiated a cultural resources investigation for the San Francisco VA Medical Center (SFVAMC) Sausalito Research Center Construction Project in accordance with the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA). The project site is located at 25 Liberty Ship Way in Sausalito, California.

Cultural resources work has involved a search of existing historic records, delineation of an area of potential effect (APE), and an intensive survey of potentially historic properties within the APE.  Work has proceeded under guidelines, procedures, and standards of the California Office of Historic Preservation for the Section 106 Consultation process. The United States Department of Veterans Affairs will serve as the lead agency for the purposes of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) compliance.
