San Francisco VA Medical Center

Wellness Program

About the Wellness Program

Wellness reflects a healthy balance of the mind, body and spirit that can result in an overall feeling of well-being. The San Francisco VA Medical Center is committed to fostering healthy lifestyles and well-being. We provide opportunities for both staff and Veterans to develop a wellness focus.

A wide variety of activities and programs are available to help each of us to use and develop our skills and energy for improved health and well-being. Some of these include:

SFVAMC Farmers MarketHealthy Eating

All organization events are encouraged to promote the principles and concepts of wellness with fresh, wholesome foods, moderate in fat and sodium, high in nutrients and fiber, with an emphasis on a plant-based diet.

To help promote healthy eating, our Medical Center hosts a weekly Farmers Market on campus every Wednesday from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., offering local organic vegetables, fruit, nuts, plants, and more!

MOVE!

MOVE! is a national weight management program designed by the VA National Center for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention (NCP) to help Veterans lose weight, keep it off and improve their health. Learn more. The SFVAMC also offers the MOVE!
