Our purchasing team coordinates the selection, purchase and repair of medical equipment and supplies for Veterans treated at the San Francisco VA Medical Center. Our Prosthetic Representatives provide counseling regarding eligibility for prosthetic services and related VA benefits for home improvement and structural alterations, automobile adaptive equipment and clothing allowances.

Amputee Clinic – Our prosthetic clinical team provides amputee clinics to evaluate Veterans for the prescription of new artificial limbs, replacement limbs, and major repairs to artificial limbs under the guidance of our certified prosthetists.
Restoration Clinic – We’re one of only three remaining Restoration Clinics in the United States. Our certified anaplastologist has been working with other VA facilities and Veterans to provide ocular, orbital, facial and body prosthesis for over 15 years.
Home Improvement and Structural Alterations – This program is for Veterans who need permanent alterations to their home for aid in access and mobility, the continuation of treatment, or for essential lavatory and sanitary facilities.
Automobile Adaptive Equipment – This program provides equipment to permit physically challenged Veterans to enter, exit, and operate a motor vehicle, and instructs how to safely operate their vehicle on our nation's roadways.
Clothing Allowance - Any Veteran who is rated for a service-connected disability for which he or she uses prosthetic or orthopedic appliances may be entitled to an annual clothing allowance. The allowance is also available to any Veteran whose service-connected skin condition requires prescribed medication that irreparably damages the Veteran's outer garments.
Guide/Service Dog - We provide veterinary and support services to Veterans who currently utilize or are eligible to utilize a guide or service dog. If you are approved for a guide or service dogs you will be referred to an accredited agency.
Home Respiratory Therapy - Home oxygen services are provided, as medically needed, to all eligible beneficiaries accepted for care here.
Prescription Optics - Prescription eyeglasses are provided through contracted sources to all enrolled eligible Veterans.
Hearing Aids – An audiologist will complete an evaluation to determine the need for hearing aids and/or other hearing assistive devices. If eligible, your hearing aids, repairs, and future batteries will all be at no charge to you.
Blind Aids - Any enrolled Veteran whose vision loss impacts activities of daily living may participate in the Visual Impairment Services Team program and arrange for evaluation for aids such as magnification devices, video magnifiers, large print or talking computer systems, canes, watches, talking paper currency identifiers, audible prescription readers, and a variety of adapted recreational devices.
