Transportation

The San Francisco VA Medical Center offers several transportation options for eligible veterans and employees. These services operate Monday - Friday.

San Francisco VAMC Transport System (operated by the San Francisco VA Medical Center)


  • The Transport System is a fleet of buses (Red, Green, Blue) operated by San Francisco VA Medical Center staff, and operates along the Highway 101 corridor. This Transport Systems takes patients to and from appointments at clinics in Ukiah, Santa Rosa and the Medical Center. The Red Fleet transports patients from Eureka to the Ukiah Clinic. Patients continuing on to the Santa Rosa Clinic or the Medical Center will transfer to the Green or Blue Fleets to complete their trip.
  • Veterans DO NOT need to reserve a seat in advance. Seat availability is on a first come, first served basis. Learn more.

Volunteer Transport Network (operated by DAV Transportation Network)


  • The Volunteer Tranport Network makes ONE run per day to the VA Medical Center from their point of origin. RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED. Shuttles depart from Lake County, Santa Rosa, Fort Bragg and Ukiah. Learn more

Bauer's Transportation Shuttle (operated by Bauer's Transportation)


  • This is a free shuttle/bus service from the Golden Gate Bridge and various transportation hubs in San Francisco. It operates from 5 - 9 a.m. and 2:40 - 6:30 p.m. This service is for patients, employees and volunteers and you must show a valid ID card (VA, volunteer, UCSF, NCIRE, Veteran). Learn more.

Clearlake Shuttle Service (operated by MV Transportation)


  • This service operates between the Clearlake VA Clinic and several locations in Lake County. The shuttle runs Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Learn more.

Mendocino Shuttle (operated by MV Transportation)


  • This service operates between the Medoncino County SS Office and the Ukiah VA Clinic. The shuttle runs Monday and Wednesday. Learn more 

UCSF Shuttle (operated by San Francisco VA Medical Center)


  • This shuttle runs from 6:35 a.m. to 5:05 p.m. It departs every 35 minutes from the SFVAMC, in front of Bldg. 203. It departs from UCSF at 5 minutes after the hour from 505 Parnassus/ Emergency Room parking lot. For questions about the SFVAMC Shuttle, please call (415) 221-4810 x2450.

UCSF Shuttle (operated by UCSF Transportation Service)


  • This shuttle runs between 6:50 - 9 a.m. and 4:30 - 7 p.m. The shuttle stops in front of Bldg. 203 and at 505 Parnassus/Emergency Room parking lot at UCSF.
