Groups for Iraq & Afghanistan Veterans

Our Integrated Care Clinic offers groups for Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans.  These groups provide both information and support to Veterans on a number of topics. They include:

Managing Insomnia: An Evidence-Based Approach to Improving Sleep

Facilitators: Steve Rao, Ph.D., and Lian Bloch, M.A.
Time: Starts January 2012, on Thursdays 9-10 a.m.

Description: Cognitive-behavioral class designed to
help improve sleep.
Referral: Required

OEF/OIF/OND Pain and Wellness Class

Facilitators: Emily Sachs, Ph.D. and Sarah Palyo, Ph.D.
Time: Meets Wednesdays from 1-2:30 p.m.
Location: Pain Clinic, Building 203, 2A-41

Description: Cognitive-behavioral class for reducing pain, optimizing activity, and improving mood, with visiting guest experts in pharmacy, physical therapy, yoga and diet.

Presidio Fitness Group

Facilitators: Chris Geronimo, CTRS and Gary Agcaoili, CTRS
Time:  Ongoing, 3- month program; training sessions at least 1-2x/week
Location: Presidio YMCA, 63 Funston Ave # 63, San Francisco

Description: Group/Individual training sessions to provide supervised fitness training including cardiovascular training, weight training, and aquatic exercise to improve overall fitness and wellness.

Re-Boot Group: Adjusting to Life Post-Deployment

Facilitators: Christine Celio, Ph.D. and Spence Casey, LCSW
Time: Starts January 26, 2012; meets Thursdays 2-3 p.m. (Ongoing)
Location: Medical Practice Conference Room, Building 200, First Floor, Room 1A-220

Description: This class is to help Veterans re-integrate into civilian life. Topics include: positive coping, dealing with changing relationships with romantic partners, friends, and families, maintaining physical and emotional heath, coping with anger/frustration/stress, career and school issues, etc.
Referral: Not Required; Drop-In OK.
